About Cloud Computing and SaaS

Patriot Data Solution Group has been a market innovator since 2002, introducing Crossflo DataExchange (CDX), COTS-based software for mapping and deploying data exchanges conforming to the GJXDM and NIEM standards.

CDX and PDSG’s services focused on automating what were cumbersome, complicated and expensive manual processes. With our new expanded and innovative CDX4 software tools and platform, released into production in March 2010, PDSG also introduced a more sensible business model, empowering potential customers with data sharing initiatives, with choice: the capability to have the implementation services performed by a trusted business partner; their own staff who would receive services training; or PDSG itself.

Cloud Computing and Software as a Service represents (another) choice for potential customers.

Benefits

The primary benefit of Cloud computing/Software as a Service model is to further reduce cost for everyone involved. PDSG, as a software vendor, would not have to spend a high volume of hours supporting CDX users via phone or email… we would simply maintain and support a central copies of the Crossflo DataExchange products online. Conversely, users would not have to expend the significant up-front costs of fully purchasing their software, hardware, and maintenance. Users would instead pay nominal rental fees to access the large central copy.

With PDSG’s NIEM in the Cloud Evaluation Program, there is now “Application Discovery”, a choice that has not been offered to Justice and Public Safety practitioners to date, and is easily extended to new NIEM emerging domain users. This Program is a valuable initial offering: easy to try, easy to learn, evaluate, buy and expand. Customer adoption costs can be reduced to lowest possible point—with the value of this model being passed along to the customer. PDSG is creating a disruptive technology and business model by taking further costs out of the value chain relating to standardization, mass customization, process automation and customer self service. The reduction in total cost of service is passed along to the customer.
